We are making changes to the My Probate Partner website, and are looking for people of all walks of life to take part in usability testing sessions this October. This is a paid opportunity.

What does it involve?

Usability testing sessions involve spending half an hour to an hour in an online meeting with one of our user researchers. They will show you a part of the website and ask you to complete a task or find out some information. They will ask you questions as you go around the website.

This is to help us know what works and doesn’t work. There are no right or wrong answers, and you don’t have to do anything in advance.

This means we’d prefer people who are new to the website, and haven’t already spent much time looking at it.

We can schedule sessions at a time that suits you.

We normally record sessions to share internally, but everything you say is confidential.

Who is eligible?

We are looking for people of all ages, genders and backgrounds. You do not need to have any experience designing websites. In fact, it’s better if you don’t.

We’re interested in your views if:

  • You have a relative in Scotland who has died recently and are responsible for sorting out their affairs. You might be just starting to think about Confirmation (Scottish Probate), might be in the middle of the probate process, or might have already had an application rejected.

or

  • You have a relative in Scotland and you are starting to think about what you need to do when they die. The session would ask you to imagine that the person has died, so you would need to be comfortable with thinking about that.

Assistive technology users

We want to make sure our website works for everyone. If you use assistive technology, like a screenreader, we are particularly interested in hearing from you.

What does it pay?

The rates depend on what we are testing and how long we need you, but we typically pay £30 for a half hour session or £50 for a one hour session.

How do I apply?

If you would like to be considered as a tester, please complete our application form.

This form will ask you some personal questions. You don’t have to answer all the questions, but the more information we have, the easier it is for us to find the right balance of people.

Find out more about how house clearance works and how much it costs, and get a quote from our trusted house clearance partner. Tackling a vacant property when someone dies When someone dies, leaving behind a vacant property, you need to understand what’s in the property, what it’s worth, and what you can do with it. Some things will be distributed according to the person’s Will, and other things might need to be sold or donated. This can be an overwhelming task, and take up a lot of energy, physically and emotionally. If you don’t live locally, things become even harder. A specialist house clearance company can make things easier.
